LOL If you want a commonsense perspective, let me know .
Wow. I've played in an ukulele group with Dr. Okimoto (or as we know him, Joe) off and on for about a decade, and I had no idea about this part of his life story. He's such a kind person and always such a warm, gentle presence in our band (and not to mention plays the bass ukulele like a total pro!), and I feel fortunate to get to strum and sing alongside him. Thank you for this interview/conversation, and thank you to Joe for sharing his story. ❤
🍖🍗🍗🥩🥩🍔🍔🌭🌭🌭🍟🍟🍕🍕🍕🥙🥙🥪🌮🌮🌯🌯🧆🧆🥗🥗🫔🥘🫕🍝🍝🍝🍝yum
Good stuff. 👏🏿
Ther notable absences: Washington U, U Chicago, Case Western, Cleveland Clinic, Duke
Interesting how so many chose Utah. Not a bad set of residencies-but still surprising! And nobody at Univ of Washington?
Oops, somebody did match at Washington in Anesthesia. A fine choice! The Uw faculty welcomes you!
I was a tenured full professor at the time and applied to medical school at age 37. Got in, but decided to stick with the security of my position at a top research university. Did I make the right decision? Who knows? I have a career in a medical field, but alas, I do not take care of pts.
Never wanted to be a doctor (phobia of needles and sharp things, squeamish around blood, and the IQ of a turnip), but I watch this every year. The full ceremony with brief introductions, residency and specialty is so much more satisfying than most schools' 5 minute fluffy Match Day promos.
What happens if you didn’t match and you were here?
1) you are not mentioned 2) you are not there or 3) everybody matched (most likely)
"...since I was birthed in the Dartmouth birthing pavilion"! LOL
How to say you come from privilege without saying it. 😂
😢 make the video 'download able' please.
It’s is
❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing!
So proud of our #Geisel24s!
Congratulations ❤🎉
If there is any way to go back and edit the description, it should be 9066 (not 9006)
this was very heartwarming to watch. i have tears in my eyes. i am so proud of you all
Wow
*promosm* 😎
People love to be appreciated . It inspires us to do more thanks to doctor edionwele for doing what no other doctor could do. Thank for curing my disease. You are amazing . Cure my hiv thanks drwww.youtube.com/@Doctoredionweleherbalhome....
So basically it’s a civil war?
SNUPPY PUPPY SAYS HI!
Romina, if you come back to this video, I want to say that I think you are a beautiful human, and I wish you so much luck with everything!
What does it mean for the med student if they don't match? I live outside the US.
They can go through a process called "SOAP", or "Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program". Programs that do not completely fill their slots can select from students that did not match. It helps a lot of students each year.
@@bluesteelgaming2883 thanks. Sounds like a good idea they get another opportunity.
All of hard works and dedication paid off! Congrats! 🎉
congratulations guys!
I don't know her, but big props to Romina for sharing so openly about SOAPing. That was brave and important!!
She so obviously is a badass. Good on her for doing this
For those who did not match: keep your heads up guys!!!
Honestly this is not cute or heartwarming whatsoever. This process is an incredibly personal one and no med student should be coerced into sharing any details regarding where/if they’ve matched.
Well people are going to find out anyway. At least they go somewhere. Not in every country, doctors have the privilege to "match" as soon as they graduate, since there are not enough spots available.
what a way to be negative!
Before Match day students are told if they've matched or not and those who didn't match can choose not to come. Match day is about celebrating the future doctors and those who've helped them along the way and I find it super inspiring as a pre med!
Ppl can choose not to go u twit
I think it was all voluntary.
For Lucy Skinner, I work at a family practice office in Boise right now as a Medical Assistant with hopes of medicinal school. I’m so excited for you that you’ve matched into such a great field in a great city! Congratulations and best of luck in residency!
amazing! I lvoe these match videos. congrats y'all!
I’m as happy for them as id be for when it’s my turn
Thank you 🙏🏻
My dream school! Currently in the 22-23 cycle.
Well let me know if y'all found a cure
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was captivated start to finish, and just really good life guidance. (Glad you found your pants 👖! )
Such a great talk! I’m not in the medical field but I still really enjoyed this. Also as a cancer survivor I fully agree with the keeping your sense of humor. It helps greatly. 🤪
Making doctors human and letting them be human.
Please do a video about Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBM)!!!
Brilliant! I find a bit of Jonathan in myself 😉 During intern year I taught myself to sleep in chairs, stand for 18 hours, eat less (just what the advisor recommended), pre-pre-round, carry 5-pocket worths of medical instruments and Emergency meds in my pockets in the ER, and move fast enough to be a blur 😅 I think there's a lot of work stemming from poorly organised systems and too few audits. For me, Jonathan is a healthy reminder of what the system wants but what not to become. He's Bill-only super-human.
And the head nod was my primary form of communication with seniors. Masking cenented that reflex 😄
Dr. Glaucomflecken for U.S. surgeon-general!
Absolutely not
I’m so glad you’re alive and safe with your family. 💜
Update: Video now starts at 0:00, as expected :) #### FYI, video starts at 11:29
doing the lord's work here, thanks!
@@liamhurlburt9794 Haha, thanks! I sat through 11 minutes of dead silence and was like "How the hell has nobody commented the starting timestamp yet?!" Once the sound finally showed up, figured the least I could do was note down the time and spare the next person my pain 😅
We've trimmed the video to reflect the actual start time. Thank you for pointing this out to us!
@@GeiselMedDartmouth Awesome, thank you!
Our family has been encouraged week after week with Dr. Glauc! Thank you 🎉
Brilliant! ❤
One of the largest problems with breast cancer are the misdiagnosis. Sometimes, anagrams will scan and find cancer, but it will not be the dangerous link of cancer. This cancer is a certain type that grows so slowly, that it cannot possibly kill you in your lifetime. Loads of chemotherapy later, the woman grows weak from all of it, but the cancer that will not even kill her in her lifetime is defeated, and yet she had worse results with the chemo than she would ever have with the cancer. Sad, but it is unpredictable to know exactly what strain of cancer it is, so we always have to try to eliminate it regardless.
promosm 🙌
Titilayo, my sister and future colleague, congratulations once again. You made me proud of my motherland, Nigeria! Keep shining so bright
This is very beautiful ❤️. Congratulations future colleagues. It's a long, but great, fulfilling and exciting journey. Love you guys.
